  My Darling,

  Sometimes the awareness of your absence is so strong that it hurts. As with most things that hurt or cause us pain there is (usually) some kind of medication we can take that will relieve the pain.

  To the best of my knowledge no such relief is available for the heartache of missing one’s life partner. In fact, there are some dates, times, people and places that exacerbate the heartache.

  Christmas.

  It suddenly dawned on me last week that Christmas is rapidly coming our way and I needed to get moving on designing a card and copying it for those many people who supported us over the past 12-18 months. It’s amazing how many hours that such a project can absorb! I’ll let you know how I’m going in my next letter.

  For now I just want to record the fact that thinking through the planning, the timing etc. has raised some questions that I have never asked in all my 73 years on this planet. I think there are some people who would seriously question my theology if they knew such thoughts were allowed any kind of consideration.

  Do they celebrate Christmas in heaven?

  It sure sounds as though heaven celebrated the first Christmas!!  

  Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:13-15 (NLT)
   

  I have a couple more questions but they can wait until next time.
