Hi Sweetheart,
Every day in seemingly countless ways I am surrounded by memories of you. I guess there would be something wrong if that was not the case, given that you departed for your permanent home in heaven just 8 months ago. I am so grateful for the memories that we made together over the 50 year partnership that we shared.
While I would never try to erase those memories from my mental and emotional records, they perform another purpose which sounds like, “I miss you so much”. Yes, of this there can be no doubt.
In some ways I could almost envy you! Something was said at Church this morning which sent me off on another track. (It won’t surprise that I can’t remember who it was or what they said), but our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.( Philippians 3:19-21)
The thought came to me, “Bev is now enjoying that citizenship! Philippi was a Roman Colony a long way from Rome.
We might live in Philippi but our heart is in Rome. So, because of their loyalty to the Emperor, they were rewarded in many ways. Paul obviously saw the relationship between Rome and Philippi as an example or illustration of the relationship between our temporary, earthly home and our permanent, heavenly home. We may live in Philippi (here on earth) but our home is in Rome.
And you are there now.
One of the associated thoughts about missing you is the loss of you as my partner in having someone with whom I can talk about daily issues. I have had a number of medical consultations this week and I so miss you as one who has always been there to discuss the outcome and responses I need to make.
I think it’s at those times when I feel most acutely that you’re no longer here…. And I miss you so much
