    JOURNAL 72

    Sweetheart,

Do you recall the rosebush that “A” gave you for our 50th wedding anniversary? It took a while to establish itself but it is now flourishing like you wouldn’t believe! I don’t know how many times a rosebush is supposed to flower in a season but this is  the third lot of blossoms that it has yielded and the new growth leaves are heralding at least one more such display, maybe more.

I wish I could send you a photo. It is a beautiful pink flower and everyone who walks past our unit comments on its colour and perfume.

Every so often I take one of the developing buds and place it in a thin-necked vase and there it sits in the middle of the dining room table, a constant reminder to me of your beauty. I am quite amazed as to how long that bud takes to open and remain open. When people comment on the beauty of the flower, I always make reference “to my Bebby”. I think they make allowance for me; in fact, I think some may even be a tad envious.

Speaking of gardening, you would be surprised to see the way that it is surviving under the deft touch of these green fingers! (I just KNOW that you would get a giggle out of that description!) These fingers have created more mayhem in the gardening world than could possibly be imagined which makes the current success a surprising outcome.

I’ve been offered by our Pastor the opportunity to preach last Sunday and next Sunday which releases he and his wife to take that holiday to New Zealand; the one that was put on hold so that he could pastorally care for our family in the event of your death.

Do you know about that? How much do you know of what took place at the moment of your death? Do you have access to the knowledge that gathered around you during those few days?

I need to water that garden and especially that rosebush!

    But Until Then…..

You remain the love of my life

    Mike
