     MOTHER’S DAY

     Hello sweetheart,

I haven’t spoken to our children as to what they want to do about Mothers’ Day. No doubt the least you would have received were you still with us would have been a phone call.

But I think I can do better than that for you this year.

It is no secret that I was born on Mothers’ Day. Some people think that’s cute. Others aren’t so sure! I think that motherhood is one of the most highly underrated roles in our social structure. What I want to do is somehow to convey to you the high regard in which our kids are held.

As I move around and tell our story before it comes out in book form, I am finding that people are quick to recognize the very significant role that each has played and continues to play in the unfolding drama that is our life in more recent times.

Comments like. “I hope you recognize what a terrific family you have”.  “How blessed you are to have three children who are so obviously committed to you”. I’ve mentioned these kind of comments before but I think Mothers’ Day is an appropriate day to revel in such a wonderful affirmation.

Darling, you know what they are like. Each is unique. Words like ”generous”, “wise”, “caring” come readily to mind. What I am trying to say is that our children are a reflection of their upbringing and, in our case, I am convinced that their mother was the primary influence in that privileged responsibility. I wish you could see them now. We have always been proud of them; but never more so than now.

    So, happy Mothers’ Day!!

    But until then

You remain the love of my life

    Mike
