Our Journey Through The Valley (16)
27 May, 2013
BEV: Last Friday we attended a special clinic for the assessment of my condition. It was a much more pleasant experience that I was expecting. The clinic was down stairs, so away from the general clinics, much quieter and with only a small number of “ordinary looking” people in attendance. The Doctors that I saw were very, very caring and thorough. I will be referred to this specialised clinic (for Motor Neurone Disease) at St Josephs at Auburn which will become a major support group for both Mike and I. Last Friday I had a number of specialised blood tests and I will go back to Westmead Hospital on Thursday to have a brain activity test [ to assist the Registrar in his PHD] and then I am finished with Westmead as far as the clinic goes. The doctors we met will be at the St Joseph clinic and they will organise more baseline tests for me there. I just have to wait for them to ring and make an appointment for me.
The lesson for me out of this experience is not to fear the unknown. A book I am reading says that “the opposite to faith is fear, ....in one sense, "fear is faith in what you do not want to happen”, I need to remember that God has gone before and prepared the way so it is not an unknown to Him and He will always be beside me/us in every circumstance, reassuring and comforting.
