  • Our Journey Through The Valley (35)

    1 August, 2013

BEV:  This week has held some enjoyable as well as confronting experiences. Celebrating a granddaughters'  birthday was a highlight. As the disease increases to add dis-ease to life, walking is becoming very difficult causing serious consideration of whether I can accomplish the few paces needed to complete a task.

Monday morning saw the  delivery of two power wheel chairs for me to trial. I enjoyed the sense of freedom and safety that the chairs afforded. A touch of fun for me, but a very confronting experience for Mike.  It could be many months until I  am given a power chair , but the process has begun.

We visited a specialist for Mike on Tuesday and in talking about my disease and its effect on Mike's health and emotional well-being, he was happy to discuss my prognosis and pointed out that as I had been having investigations for almost a year before diagnosis, that year counted in the "up to three years" that I had been given. Very confronting again for Mike.

Through all of this, God's care is very present. With the affirmation that I am a very loved daughter of the King, the peace that I am experiencing has grown exponentially to the effects of the disease on my life. I am learning to accept the care of others as they seek to serve The Lord by serving me.  A big learning curve for me!!!!!!! I thank God so much for His beautiful care through His beautiful disciples. How blessed I am to belong to the family of God.
