  • Our Journey Through The Valley (40)

    1 September, 2013

Some of you reading this blog will now, for the first time, be acquainted with our daughter, Karen. Others will be wondering just who is this persuasive person who seems to have an endless supply of email addresses one of which is obviously mine. As I have watched her enthusiasm during this last week as she has approached so many about the support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, I believe I am seeing the gift of vision in action.

I doubt that Karen would call it that but I think I'm right.

You may be aware that her original target when she decided to go in the MND Walk come mid-September was $1,500. The response of our family and friends has been overwhelming to the point where she raised her personal goal to $5,000. There was no let-up in the rate of giving and the $5,000 goal was soon reached. Then I heard that she had raised the bar yet again - this time to $10,000!!

I gasped. Then I began to think of ways that provided her with a soft landing when she was unable to meet that goal. At least, that was the outcome that I anticipated. Wrong!!  As I write this report, her efforts have brought her to the point where she is just a couple of hundred dollars short of this "totally  unrealistic goal". The scary aspect in this scenario is that there are still 2 weeks left before the actual walk itself!! What might yet be going to happen ?? Anyway, I think I'll hang around this child of mine with the hope that some of her gifting might rub off onto me.
