Our Journey Through The Valley (44)

We are looking at John's life.......
Let me backtrack; some time ago when I must have been feeling that my life was going nowhere and I could not see any purpose in it, I challenged God as to why He left me on this earth when others, whose value I could see, were taken.
The diagnosis of MND happened and one of the outcomes of this disease process has been to let me see how significant my/our lives have been to others.
Karen, without knowing it, has been used to add emphasis to this revelation. Karen decided that she would like to raise funds for the MND Association by taking part in the walk organised by MND in Port Macquarie. She started out with a goal of $1500. As she surpassed this goal in a couple of days, she upped it to $2000. This was passed, so $5000 was chosen as the new goal. Would the goal be reached? The answer was very quickly a resounding yes, so $10,000 was the next target. When this was passed very quickly with some large donations, one of Karen's daughters made a comment like; "I didn't know you and Grandma & Grandad were so popular".
A good friend wrote back to Bella saying " you are part of a very loved family". Karen did the walk and ended up raising almost $14,500. All of the money had come from family, friends and folk from the retirement village that we are part of. So, so amazing and touching with many a tear of gratitude shed.
Now back to John... He lived in the desert, was not well known in society, but he was the one chosen by God to bring the message of the coming Messiah to the world. I do not even begin to compare myself to John, but it is interesting to look back on the years that Mike and I have spent in ministry, wondering sometimes if anything had been achieved of Kingdom value, and see the love and caring that has been lavished on us in a practical way by people we have loved and led during those years.
Maybe I / we have been of some Kingdom use during those years.
What a blessing to be one of God's children, part of His family and so loved and cared for by them.
Thank you Lord!!!!!!!!!
