  • Our Journey Through The Valley (8)

    6 May, 2013

"We are praying for you both". So many people have given us their assurance that they will do this. Some have acknowledged that such a promise sounds so trite but they really mean what they are saying. The effort of some to avoid the possibility of sounding clichéd has been heartfelt. We know they are praying. We are being sustained in an incredible way.    Bev is telling others that we feel cocooned in the prayers of so many, many people. Of course, it's possible that our heartfelt "Thank you" could also sound trite and clichéd. Let me assure you that our gratitude knows no bounds. But, you know, when someone says that they are praying for us, I want to ask them, "What, exactly, are you praying? Is your prayer simply a "God bless Mike and Bev" prayer? Mind you, we won't try to dissuade you from praying thus. We will take everything we can get! Is your prayer for us more intercessory in that it involves waiting on God, listening for His voice and being prepared to pass on anything that might be a word from Him to us through you? I have no doubt that many of our friends will be praying for Bev to be healed. They will be praying that we will have the faith to believe God for the miracle of healing from this cruel and relentless killer. But is this what God wants to do? Is it on His agenda to grant healing if we can just get enough people to pray the right prayer with enough faith? Again, we know that some of our praying friends believe that it is God's will to always heal on every occasion. The only thing stopping Him from doing so is our lack of faith. Our appeal would be to urge our praying friends to ask God how to pray for us. That will involve being still and listening. As Bev deteriorates, we need to hear from God. Ask God to give us wisdom and spiritual insight as to just how we are to pray so that we become aligned with His Will rather than assume that He wants to this or that.
