  • The Paradox of Change (4)

    18 March, 2014

Thinking about the relationship between pain and change, here is another "threesome" that is worth exploring

    A. CHANGE IS INEVITABLE.

It is, you know. You and I may not want it. We may resist it. We may argue against it. But unless we create and live in a community like the Amish, there is no way that we can avoid it.

    B. CHANGE AND GROWTH ARE INSEPARABLE

If we are committed to growth then we must come to terms with change. You can't have one without the other.

    C. CHANGE AND PAIN ARE UNAVOIDABLE.

Because change can only happen when we are prepared to surrender one thing to be replaced by another, this means the loss of what has been part of our life, our routine i.e. what has become part of our very being. This involves the pain that comes with loss.
