  • Today's "Moment With Mark" (1) - Be Prepared!

    13 November, 2012

The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.   It is written in Isaiah the prophet: "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way"— "a voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.'"  (Mark 1/3)

How does one prepare to receive such a divine and royal person? For the people of John's day, there were clear directions given. Repentance and baptism were part of that preparation. They were commanded to make straight paths for Him; to stop meandering  or wandering around. We are to walk a straight path. Be direct, know where you are going and go directly to that goal.

We believe that Jesus will return on a future occasion as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The question that I invite you to ponder with me is this:  How can we prepare for this Second Coming of Jesus?  Maybe a quick look at 1 John 2/28 and 1 John 3/1-3 will set you on your way as you seek an answer to that all-important question.
