  • Today's "Moment with Mark" (125)

    30 March, 2013

......an honored member of the high council, Joseph from Arimathea (who was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come), gathered his courage and went to Pilate to ask for Jesus' body........ Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth, and taking Jesus' body down from the cross, he wrapped it in the cloth and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance. (Mark 15:42-47)

"Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance".

Have you ever had the experience where you have become very excited about a project and the more involved you became the more excited and committed you became? Such were the possibilities and potential that you began making sacrifices to ensure that the adventure had your support.

All the signs were so positive that when you were invited to become part of the movement you did not hesitate to sign up. You walked away from your former way of life, maybe sold up your home, relocated your family and plunged into the privilege of recruiting others. It was just like you had died and gone to heaven!

Then, to your stunned unbelief, it all came to an end. Possibilities became nightmares. Potential became bitter disappointment.

".. taking Jesus' body down from the cross, he wrapped it in the cloth and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance.

So, that's that! The dream is over. The bubble has burst. What promised so much delivered so little in the end. The last 3 years had been amazing. But instead of bringing in the Kingdom the end result was the death of the King. None of the disciples attended the funeral although a couple of the women watched from a distance.

Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance.

Joseph! Wait! It's not over yet.

    Just wait until tomorrow morning!

Please, just wait another 24 hours!
