  • Today's "Moment with Mark" (127)

    1 April, 2013

So they entered the tomb, and there on the right sat a young man clothed in a white robe. The women were startled, but the angel said, "Do not be so surprised. You are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene, who was crucified. He isn't here! (Mark 16:5-6)

    He isn't here!

That's the greatest news that this world has ever received. If His body was still there then death was the victor. If His body was still there then Satan had triumphed. If His body was still there then God's rescue mission had been repulsed and the whole world would continue to struggle in darkness.

One of the dimensions of the Resurrection account that helps convince me of its accuracy and authenticity is that none of the apostolic band really expected or anticipated the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead. To suggest that the disciples of Jesus manufactured the resurrection story is to fly in the face of the facts and evidence.

The other thought that occurs to me is this; sometimes in life, we find ourselves looking for Jesus in all the wrong places.

    • We thought we would find Him in religion. But religion's reply is, "He  isn't  here!!"
    • We thought we would find Him among the self-regulated "good"people. But they said, "He  isn't  here!!

    So, where is He?

    • Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. (Ps 23:4  NLT)
    • ".......go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always...." ( Matt 28:19-20)

    So that's where He is!!
