  • Today's "Moment With Mark" (24) - A Tough Call

    6 December, 2012

But as the man went on his way, he spread the news, telling everyone what had happened to him. As a result, such crowds soon surrounded Jesus that he couldn't enter a town anywhere publicly. He had to stay out in the secluded places, and people from everywhere came to him there. (Mark 1/45)

This is a tough call. This man had been a leper for who knows how long. Now he has been healed of this terminal condition. And Jesus wants him to keep it quiet?! Well, he didn't. He told everyone what had happened to him. Wouldn't you?

Yet the reason for Jesus' directive is immediately clear. His ministry was curtailed by the crowds.

It's ironic, don't you think? Jesus tries to persuade this man not to testifying about Him but in our situation Jesus is trying to persuade us to witness to what He has done in our lives. What He has done in our lives is far greater than what He did in that leper's life.
