  • When God says, "You must..." (Part 14)

    10 February, 2014

Indecision!!  What a frustrating invader this dynamic is as we seek to co-operate with God's will.  For Paul, the issue has already been resolved in his heart. Gold has said, "You must...." so Paul knows he will!

But now he is faced with the indecision of others regarding sailing schedules, weather charts, contradictory views on whether or not they should keep going or winter somewhere safe. The ship's owner argued with the captain who, in turn, argued with the supervising Roman soldier. Even Paul contributed some wisdom into the verbal whirlpool.

The terrible storm raged unabated for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone. (Acts 27:20)

Well, not all hope. It certainly seems that Paul still had hope. But even he experienced a degree of fear: otherwise why would the angel encourage him to now nnowot be afraid?

'Don't be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar!  (Acts 27:24-26)  Re-assurance, oh, how we need that .

Maybe today you are struggling because there are so many obstacles that threaten the demise of your dream... your conviction about the will of God. I would urge you to go back to the time when you felt yourself convinced about what you were to do. Maybe about the call of God on your life which seems now hindered because of all the obstacles.

Well, keep reading because we are coming to the conclusion. But not before a couple of classic obstacles.
