  • When God says, You must..." (Part 15)

    12 February, 2014

So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said. But we will be shipwrecked on an island."

" ....we will be shipwrecked on an island"  (27/26).  O Great!! Just what we need. We've already lost a lot of time and now this! It seems that everything is against us ever reaching Rome so that Paul can testify to Christ in his life.

For Paul it was a shipwreck! For you or I it could be that our car was 'totalled' just when we most needed it to get to our destination and fulfil God's call on our lives.

Just when we thought it safe to get the camp fire going, Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake as he collected fire wood! What else could happen. The people on the island (Malta) recognised the snake and expected Paul to fall down dead. He didn't. Some critic of this miracle suggested that it was an old snake and therefore was not at its best! Or it could have bitten someone else that morning and was short on venom!

Whatever your response,  the episode with the snake gave a great opportunity to share the gospel.
