When God says, "You Must...." (Part 6)
28 December, 2013
Sometimes as we pursue the will of God in and through our lives, there are times when it feels like "the
wheels are falling off". Now Paul finds himself in prison. It's only for his protection but those 5 nights and 5 days must have given Paul the opportunity to reflect again on the Lord's words to him, "You must testify about me in Rome".It would be all too easy for Paul to think negatively about this turn of events. ("O poor me! I'm supposed to be one my way to Rome and here I am in prison. I hope the Lord knows what He is doing?!")
Of course there is another more positive perspective that he could adopt: (OK, so I'm in prison for 5 days. Praise the Lord! I have 5 days to listen to the Lord for direction. I have 5 days to pray into the hearing that awaits me before Governor Felix. I have 5 days to witness to those responsible for meeting my daily needs. And, to top it all off, I am in protective custody so I can sleep well at night. What a great provision this is from the Lord!"
So, what's the thought for today?
It all depends on how you look at your situation:
When Goliath challenged the Israelite Army, all that the Israeli's could see was an invincible enemy. All that the young boy, David, could see was an opportunity for God's glory. Yet they all saw the same situation. How do you see your situation today?
