  • When God says, "You Must...." (Part 9)

    15 January, 2014

Those who have been following each "Thought For Today" will recall that Paul is on his way, under a divine mandate, to testify about the Lord Jesus Christ in Rome.

Do you ever have those times when it seems everything is arrayed against you to hinder and obstruct  you from fulfilling your purpose in any given situation? I can only imagine that Paul must have felt that way as a range of obstacles opposed him. A conspiracy involving 40 Jewish fanatics...government officials who made it very difficult for him to get to Rome....and so the list goes on.

Here's another obstacle. Paul was in prison for 2 years in Caesarea  by the time the new Governor arrived - Governor Festus. The Jewish leaders requested that Paul's trial be held in Jerusalem. The plan was to ambush him on his way. Paul refused to go. He obviously knew of the plot to kill him on the way.

Because he was a Roman citizen, he had the right to appeal to Caesar and he now exercised that right. Festus simply said, "Very well, you have appealed to Caesar and to Caesar you will go!"

Today's thought? The journey to Rome resumes. It had been delayed by the manipulation of ungodly people but when God says "You must testify about me in Rome", that's what He means and that is what He will accomplish. Are you aware of some call or command of God concerning your life? Have you pretty much resigned yourself that it will never happen?  God hasn't!!
