Today I again find myself reflecting on this ‘yoke principle’ and the very attractive invitation of Jesus to come to Him and to take His yoke upon myself.
Being yoked to Jesus has a learning component to it. As part of His invitation, Jesus said, “Let me teach you…” How often over the years have I thought of Jesus as the “retired founder of the firm” – still the figurehead of the ‘company’ (kingdom) but now leaving the day-to-day running of the company to its employees.
No! Jesus is anything but retired! How can He call me to take His yoke upon me if He is no longer present and active and wanting to teach me all that is involved in submitting to His yoke as He calls me to team with Him?
It makes a huge difference to my perspective when I understand in both my heart and my head that I am called to work with Jesus and not work for Jesus. What a relief!! What liberty!!
