  • A Thought For Today

    12 September, 2014

The NSW Police Concert Band paid a visit to our Retirement Village yesterday. They were fantastic! But I wasn’t sure at first. They were playing when I went into the hall and it was a cacophony of discord. I thought to myself, “If these guys have started already, they’re in big trouble”.

But, of course, what I was hearing was the “warm up” when each band member was doing their own thing. It wasn’t until each member submitted to the one conductor that discord became harmony. And what harmony!!

In the Old Testament book of Judges there is this statement:

“In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes. (17/6)

Using the orchestra as an example, it might read like this

“In those days there was no conductor for the band, every musician did what was right in his own eyes .Without a conductor the band was incapable of reaching its full potential.

Without a king the same is true of our lives.
