Today's "Learning with Luke" (6)

"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors." (Luke 2/14)
Peace. A much used word. A little known reality. This holds true whether we are talking about individuals, about domestic or workplace relationships, about politics on a national or international scale. It's like the weather; everybody talks about it but nobody does anything about it.
Peace. A most elusive commodity. Yet the almost too simple "formula" for peace is right here in these words spoken by the angelic choir. Glory to God in heaven results in peace on earth. That's it! I told you it was simple. When the inhabitants of this world are willing to give glory to God, peace will come. In fact wherever God is glorified - the human heart, the domestic home, the workplace etc. - peace is inevitable.
Peace. It's our choice. Whether we yield our lives to the God of Heaven or reject His claim and make our own determinations, is a choice for us. We just need to know that if we want to experience peace that is deep and lasting we must give God the Glory.
You may recall what the Apostle Paul says about this peace.
Don't worry about anything`; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4/4-6 NLT)One of the beautiful titles given to the Lord Jesus is "Prince of Peace". But the truth is that the Peace He gives is only experienced by those who acknowledge Him as Prince. No Prince = no peace.
