  • Today's "Moment With Mark" - (10) The Call

    22 November, 2012

As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.  "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."  At once they left their nets and followed him.  Mark 1:16-18

It began as any other 'normal' day. There was nothing to indicate this one would be different. Simon and Andrew simply did what they had done all their adult lives.  Then their world was invaded with an invitation and a promise and life would never be the same again.

The Invitation? "Come, follow me".  The Promise?  "I will make you fishers of men". Our part is to follow. Jesus' part is to make us to become what He calls us to become.

So let's go into this day "casting our nets" (or whatever our workaday world involves) but don't discount the possibility that you may hear an unexpected voice behind you saying, "Come and follow me and I will make you to become that for which I made you".
