  • Today's "Moment With Mark" (15) - Power

    27 November, 2012

"Be quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!" The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. (Mark 1:25-26)

This confrontation between a demonic force and the Lord Jesus Christ took place in the synagogue - in the middle of "the church service"! As I said yesterday, this is some church meeting! I wonder how many people left the church that morning, offended by what they saw and heard?

"I'm never going back to that church. They have no sense of reverence."
"Did you hear what that carpenter said? Fancy telling that poor, afflicted man to "Shut Up" like that. Such language should never be used in church"

"And the shrieking....how can the Pastor allow that to happen. No, never again!!"

I don't wish that kind of experience on anyone; myself included. But let's be clear. When the Kingdom of light confronts the kingdom of darkness, conflict in inevitable. The power of Jesus is supreme and irresistible but the dark forces will hold on until the death.
