  • Today's "Moment With Mark" - (16) - A New Teaching

    28 November, 2012

The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "What is this? A new teaching — and with authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits and they obey him."  News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee. (Mark 1:27-28)

Yes, I'm sure it did! However, should we be surprised when the manifest power of Jesus is shown in individual lives   He is Lord.  He does have authority to say and do what the Father gave Him to say and do.

But what strikes me here is the way the people described the 'power actions' of Jesus as a new teaching.  Teaching doesn't consist of words alone. Jesus' teaching consisted of information (verbal),  demonstration (visual),  impartation leading to transformation.

They are impressed with His authority; something which was largely missing from their teachers of the law who tried to teach with words only. There's a challenge here for those of us who are Pastors & Teachers. Can you see it?
