  • Today's "Moment With Mark" (28) - Blasphemy)

    But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there said to themselves, 7 "What? This is blasphemy! Who but God can forgive sins!" (Mark 2:5-7)


    Oh, Oh! Here's trouble.  For the first time we are introduced to a group who became Jesus' nemesis - at least at the human or natural level. Satan was the real enemy in the realm of the spirit.  Jesus doesn't argue with them because what they say is true. God alone can forgive sin.  The whole point and purpose of forgiving sin is to demonstrate that Jesus claimed to be God.


    The first point they made is also true; if He is claiming to be God via forgiveness of sin, then that is blasphemy. Unless, of course, He is God!! Theology is very important. But when our theological dogma prevents us from seeing who Jesus really is, then it's time to review and revise our theology.
