  • Today's "Moment With Mark" (39) - to be with Him

    20 December, 2012

"Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.  He appointed twelve — designating them apostles - that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons. (Mark 3:13-15 NIV)

"...that they might be with Him..."

I find that phrase to be critical in the beginning of discipleship school. It seems to have a priority that we dare not compromise. The priority is higher than being sent out to preach. It's higher than driving out demons. First and foremost, Jesus called these 12 "to be with Him".

I suggest that without us spending priority time with the Master the remaining two aspects will be rendered powerless. There will be no preaching. There will be no authority. This is not only true for Ministers and Pastors and Church Leaders; it's true for any who have leadership responsibilities. Our highest priority is to be with Jesus.

".......they could see that they were ordinary men who had had no special training. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13 NLT)
