  • Today's "Moment With Mark" (4) - Affirmation

    16 November, 2012

"At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.  As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.  And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased". (Mark 1/9-11

How many sermons had Jesus preached at this stage in His ministry? How many miracles had He performed? How many people had turned to God because of His ministry? The answer, as best we can know from Scripture is NONE!

So Jesus' relationship with His Father did not depend upon performance. Before any ministry activities were undertaken Jesus knew He was the Son of His Heavenly Father, that He was loved by His Father. What security there is in such certainty! What a solid platform from which to launch His ministry.

You are a son/daughter of your Heavenly Father. You are loved by Him. He is already well-pleased with you. Now go into this day in the freedom of that relationship and serve the Lord with gladness!
