  • Today's "Moment with Mark" (44) - Power over Death

    4 January, 2013

"Your daughter is dead. There's no use troubling the Teacher now."  But Jesus ignored their comments and said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid. Just trust me." (Mark 5:35-36 NLT)

My heart goes out to Jairus. I have only one daughter, like him. Mind you, she is considerably older than the 12 years as was the daughter of Jairus!! Now his world was being torn to shreds as he watched his little girl dying before his eyes. He went in search of Jesus. Having found Him, Jairus successfully interceded on behalf of his daughter and they are on their way to Jairus' home.

Jairus now received two messages simultaneously. They were short messages. But they were contradictory messages. Both claimed his attention. But they were poles apart in what they conveyed to Jairus.  He was now confronted with a choice. Which message shall he accept as truth?

Message No.1 - "Your daughter is dead. There's no use troubling the Teacher now."

Message No. 2 - "Don't be afraid. Just trust Me........The child isn't dead; she is only asleep."

If you are facing a crisis today, don't be too surprised if you get two messages that contradict each other.
Which will you choose? I would urge you to listen to the voice that says, "Don 't be afraid, just trust me".
