When God says, "You Must..." (Part 4)
20 December, 2013
God said to Paul the Apostle, "...Just as you have been a witness to me in Jerusalem, you must preach the good news in Rome as well" (Acts 23/11).
Hollywood could have a great time with this lethal conspiracy to assassinate Paul the Apostle. The setting has all the components of a spy thriller. Paul's young nephew overhears the plan to rid themselves of this trouble-making preacher.
So much could have gone wrong here for Paul. What if his nephew went to the wrong leader and unwittingly told him of the plot?
What about the decision to go with the big band of military personnel rather than a small, inconspicuous team of commandos?
Then the commander called two of his officers and ordered, "Get two hundred soldiers ready to leave for Caesarea at nine o'clock tonight. Also take two hundred spearmen and seventy horsemen. Provide horses for Paul to ride, and get him safely to Governor Felix." (Acts 23:23-24 NLT)
No, there's a master plan in play here that involves the counter measures employed by the Roman Officer to protect Paul but that transcends human knowledge and initiative. God has told Paul that he must testify in Rome and sometimes God will use secular people and methods to accomplish His purposes.
So, today's thought = Don't limit the number or nature of "secular" people or events that God employs to enable God's "you must" in your life
